Memories at AIL
On 12th November’ 2024, the AIL Centre for Alternative Dispute Resolution (ACADR) organised a demo session on Mediation and Negotiation as methods of alternative dispute resolution. The session emphasized the facilitative, flexible and supportive nature of mediation and negotiation, necessary to settle disputes. The session was attended by 25 students.It was demonstrated by the members of ACADRthat amicable and articulative communication is a key to successful mediation and negotiation in resolving the conflicts.
The GI for this demo session was based on family dispute of marriage and custodial rights of children in the case ofMrs. Sweety vs. Mr. Radhe Mohan. The case was first registered with the Family court and was later referred to mediation.
To carry out the aforementioned issue, Anjali (2225) and Chaitanya Kandpal (2040) acted as the requesting party; Sansita Jain (2027) and Tirtha (2024) as the responding party; and Ranjul Malik (2012) and Sanya (2143) as the mediators of the session. The session was very successful and provided insight regarding professional mediation proceedings. It also unfolded the important role played by effective dialogue towards conflict resolution.
The Army Institute of Law, Mohali, hosted a one-day National Seminar titled
“Modern Constitutionalism: Evolving Principles and Contemporary
Challenges” on 26 th October 2024. The Inaugural Ceremony commenced with a
formal welcome address by Dr Tejinder Kaur, Principal, Army Institute of Law,
Mohali, emphasizing the importance of modern constitutionalism, particularly
in the face of significant contemporary challenges confronting the judicial
system. Hon’ble Justice Alok Jain, the chief guest, advised budding lawyers to
judiciously use technology while integrating knowledge gained from books into
their learning process. In the keynote address by Dr Balram K Gupta, Professor
Emeritus, Former Director (Academics) of the Chandigarh Judicial Academy,
highlighted the ongoing evolution of constitutional interpretations and the
necessity for continuous dialogue in the legal field.
Six Technical Sessions were conducted by Prof Rattan Singh, UILS, PU, Prof.
Devinder Singh, Department of Laws, PU, Prof Dinesh Kumar, Department of
Laws, PU, Prof Supinder Kaur, Department of laws, PU, Prof Sharanjit Kaur,
RGNUL, Patiala and Dr Manoj Sharma, Associate Professor who were the
revered resource persons. Around 60 research papers presented by scholars,
students, and faculty from various colleges and universities across India, which
garnered enthusiastic participation and offered diverse perspectives on
constitutional challenges. This strong response underscores the Army Institute
of Law's commitment to fostering meaningful academic discourse on vital legal
issues. The seminar was a grand success.
12 students participated in INSOMNIA-2022 organised by IISER Mohali between 2 nd to 6 th Oct’2024. A total of 21 students participated in various events like Dancing, Singing, sketching, monodrama and slam Poetry.
On 24th September 2024, the AIL Centre for Alternative Dispute Resolution (ACADR) held an introductory session on key ADR methods: Negotiation, Mediation, Arbitration, and Client Counselling. The session aimed to familiarize students with these alternatives to litigation, emphasizing the importance of communication in ADR. The Co-ordinator, Vice Co-ordinator, and other speakers highlighted the benefits of ADR, such as efficiency and relationship preservation. The session was attended by 77 students. The two-hour session covered the following topics:
The session was productive, with students actively participating and showing a keen interest in ADR.
AIL had sent a contingent of 35 students to participate in the NH65 -cultural fest at Jodhpur held from 26th to 29th September’2024. The contingent successfully competed in various events and the results are as follows.

AIL Cultural Society organized garba night on 16th October’2024(Friday) from 6.30 to 8.30 pm. It was attended by students, Registrar and officiating principal AIL, placement officer and faculty. Everybody danced and enjoyed with full zeal and vigor. The function was followed by dinner in the mess.
AIL CENTRE FOR GENDER JUSTICE conducted a discussion on "New criminal laws with special reference to women and children" by faculty coordinator of the centre Dr. Amrita Rathi on 24th September 2024.
On September 17, 2024, AIL CENTRE FOR GENDER JUSTICE hosted a vibrant painting competition that brought together students to explore the theme of "Women Empowerment and Globalisation." Over 10 artists participated, each bringing their unique perspective to the theme.

The AIL Centre for Social Sciences proudly organized the Institute’s first-ever
Documentary/Short Film Making Competition on 26th September 2024, spotlighting critical
socio-legal issues through various documentaries and short films. The event exceeded
expectations, fostering collaboration and dialogue among students.
Documentaries play a vital role in society, translating complex legal and social challenges into
accessible narratives. This competition highlighted the power of visual storytelling to raise
awareness, spark action, and shape public perception. The winning team, TC 01: The Kaleshi
Freshers, earned top honors with their documentary ‘Not So Neat’, exposing the dark reality of
backdoor entries in professional institutes. Runners-up, TC 05: AIL FC, delivered a compelling
presentation on mob lynching, further enriching the conversation. The presentations of all the
participants ignited important discussions on social justice, reinforcing the belief that
documentaries can educate, inspire, and drive meaningful change.
A Blood Donation Camp was organized in the institute by AIL Cultural Society in collaboration with the Rotary & Blood Bank Society Resource Centre, Sector-37, Chandigarh on 19th September 2024. It was inaugurated by Brig Vineet Mittal, OIC AIL. The camp saw a very good response whereby 44 students successfully donated their blood. The donors were given refreshments. The Blood Bank Society issued certificates to the donors.
On September 10, 2024, the AIL Centre for Social Sciences (ACSS) celebrated the
Hindi Diwas by organising the competitions of Spell Bee and Poem Recitation.
The Spell Bee competition tested the vocabulary and grammar of our enthusiastic
participants, and the poem recitation gave them the pedestal to appreciate the literary
traditions of the language.
The event, marked by meticulous planning by the members of the society was well-
received by the audience, highlighting the ACSS’s commitment to promote and
appreciate our linguistic diversity, our mother tongue.
Novices Moot Court Competition is an annual event in which students are introduced to the activity of mooting. A total of 47 teams participated in the competition. The competition was held from 27th August to 29thAugust 2024involving 4rounds i.e. Preliminary Round, Quarter Final, Semi Final and Final Round. The Final round of the competition was held on 29thAugust 2024which was judged by advocates from Punjab and Haryana High Court- Ms. Bisman Mann, Mr. Adhiraj Bhandari and Mr. Mukesh Singh Tomar.

Army Institute of Law, Mohali conducted a Demo Moot on 23rdAugust, 2024 to introduce the 1styear students to the concept of mooting. The moot proposition was based on Family Law. The motive behind organizing the demo
moot is to guide the first-year students regarding the dynamics of the courtroom and interaction between the bar and the bench and also to get them ready for their novice moot court competition.
Two students of the institute Pragati Khandekar (2179) and Anwesha Anant (2218)volunteered to argue the case as petitioner and respondent before Dr. Bajirao Rajwade and Dr. Alamdeep Kaur who were our judges for the
event.
78th Independence Day was celebrated in the Institute with fervor and joy. Dr. Tejinder Kaur, Principal, AIL hoisted the National Flag. She inspired the students with a motivational speech highlighting the immense significance of celebrating Independence Day and contributing as responsible citizens in the welfare of the country.
The students presented a cultural programme on the occasion showcasing the rich diversity of India. The celebrations culminated with high tea organized for the faculty, staff and students.
Lt Gen Mohit Wadhwa, SM, Chief-of-Staff, HQ Western Command & Patron, AIL visited Army Institute of Law, Mohali on 07 Aug 2024. The General Officer was accompanied by Maj Gen Ivor Goldsmith, SM, MG AOC, HQ Western Command & Chairman, AIL.
The General Officer was briefed by Dr Tejinder Kaur, Principal, AIL. Col R S Bhatti (Retd), Dir AWES, and SO to COS were also present. Thereafter, the Gen offr was taken on round of the campus and 1.44-acre land.
AIL Cultural Society organized a Talent Competition which was held on 08th August 2024. Students from each batch participated in the competition with great enthusiasm. Each group was given 15 minutes to showcase their talent. Students performed activities comprising of song rendition and dance. The performances were judged on the basis of theme, selection of the songs and synchronization. Army Institute of Law conducted an anti-ragging awareness session on August 1, 2024. The session was attended by 2ndto 5thyear students who were sensitized on the issue of ragging and its after effects. They were educated to say a strict no to ragging. A Documentary was shown to the students regarding the problem of ragging and its preventive measures. In the end students were asked to pledge that they will not indulge in any form of ragging and respect everyone in the institution.
Orientation Programme for the Batch 2024-2029 was successfully organized and conducted from 23 rd to 26 th July 2024. The Programme commenced with the address by Principal, Dr.Tejinder Kaur who motivated the students with her words of wisdom. The students were apprised about the curriculum at AIL , functioning of academics, mooting skills and the importance of research in the legal profession. The students were enlightened by a series of lectures by veteran academicians including Dr. Devinder Singh (prof, department of laws, Punjab university Chandigarh), Dr K. P Singh( former DGP , Haryana),motivational speaker Dr Nidhi Sharma, our alumni Gurnoor Sandhu , and Mr Rajeev Markandey (an expert on resume making).The programme also included Ice Breaking Session and introduction to academics to boost the morale and confidence of the students.
AIL Cultural Society organized an Inter-Batch Group Dance Competition which was held on 25thApril 2024.Each batch was given 12 minutes to showcase their talent. The esteemed judges for the competition were Mrs. Manjeet Madra, Director Principal at Elite American Corporate School in Patiala; Mrs. Vipanjot Sehdeva, Principal at Doon International School, New Chandigarh; and Mrs. Vandana Sharma,trained Dance teacher.The performances were judged on the basis of theme, choice of the songs, synchronization and costumes.Fifth year was adjudged as the winners and third year as the runners-up. The winners and runners-up teams were felicitated by Principal AIL, Dr Tejinder Kaur.
The Intra-Institute Moot Court Competition is an annual event in which students of all the batches participate. 11 teams (consisting of 2 students) registered for the competition. The competition was held on 9.04.2024 (Quarter Round), 10.04.2024 (Semi-Final Round) and on 18.04.2024 (Final Round). For the Quarter Round, 8 teams were selected on the basis of the memorials submitted by the them. The Final Round was held on 18.04.2024, which was judged by Mr. Sameer Sachdev and Mr. Gautam Dutt, Advocates from Punjab and Haryana High Court and Dr. Panchampreet Kaur, Assistant Professor from Amity University, Mohali. .
Maj Gen Vikramjit Singh Gill, MG Arty, HQ Western Command visited Army Institute of Law, Mohali for Annual Adm Inspection of the Institute on 15 Mar 2024. The General Officer was accompanied by Col Dinesh Kumar, EME Branch. Col R S Bhatti (Retd), Dir AWES Cell, HQ Western Command and Col S P Singh (Retd), Registrar, AIL were also present. The General Officer was briefed by Dr Tejinder Kaur, Principal, AIL. Thereafter, he was taken on round of the campus.
5th Surana and Surana & Army Institute of Law, Mohali organized National Family Law Moot Court Competition was conducted at AIL,from 15th-17thMarch, 2024. Mohali. The event witnessed the active participation of 34 teams hailing from various colleges andLaw Universities from India. 16 teams qualified for the oral rounds based on memorial submissions. The final round was presided over by Mr. Anil Malhotra, Ms. Tanu Bedi, and Mr. R Kartikeya,Advocates, Punjab and Haryana High Court. The Award Winners are as follows:
University of Institute of LegalStudy, Panjab Universitywon a cash prize of Rs 21, 000 and certificates.
Lloyd School of Law, Noida were declared the Runners Up and got a cash prize of Rs 18, 000 and certificates.
Tamil Nadu National Law University won the Best Memorial and received a cash prize of Rs 12, 000 and certificates.
Bharti Vidyapeeth (Deemed to be University), New Law College, Pune won the 2nd Best Memorial and got a cash prize of Rs 9, 000 and certificates.
Ashlesha Mehrotra from Lloyd School of Law, Noida was declared the Best Student Advocate and got a cash prize of Rs 6, 000 and a merit certificate.
The Army Institute of Law has successfully organized its Annual Sports Day on March 14 th 2024 from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. It was an Inter batch competition. The 1 st and 2 nd round of all matches were held on 11 th -13 th March from 4.00PM onwards and the final rounds were held on 14 th March. The Overall winner batch is 5 th year.
AIL Centre for Research in Social Sciences (ACRSS) organised an Intra- Institute competition on characterisation of journey of a Woman "Naari Roopantaran" on the eve of International Women's Day on 7.3.24. Five team participated and 1500 cash prize was given to the best team comprising of Shreesh Chandra Dubey (2204),Radha (2213),Nitish Singla (2296),Shagun (2239)&Naaz puri (2200).
A contingent of 67 students (40 Boys & 27 girls) went to Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Patiala to participate in Sports fest (Zelus- V) from 1st to 5th March 2024. 12 colleges across the country participated in the Sports Fest. Our Students Contingent won All Over Runners up Trophy with 7 Gold, 10 Silver and 6 Bronze medals. The Girls also won a special trophy for MVV (Most Valuable Players) Women.

Maj Gen PR Murali, VSM (Retd), Managing Director, AWES accompanied by Col Pritpal Chandel (Retd), Dir (Proj) AWES and Col RS Bhatti (Retd), Dir (AWES Cell), HQ Western Command visited the Institute from 1:40 PM to 4.00 PM on 20 Feb 2024.
The preliminary rounds I & II were multiple choice answers written tests which were held on 12th and 13th February respectively.Preliminary round-I saw a participation of 68 students out of which top 36 contested for preliminary round II,and 16 students were selected for the semi-final rounds. These students were divided into 8 teams through a draw of lots conducted on 14th February, 2024.Four teams, namely Rigveda, Samaveda, Yajurveda &Atharvaveda battled it out in Semi-final I. Teams Rigveda and Atharvavedaqualified for the Final after Semi-final I. Teams Austin, Bentham, Kelson & Denning were part of Semi-final II. Teams Austin and Kelson qualified for the Final round after Semi-final II. The Semi-Finals I &II comprised of 3 rounds each, multiple-choice question round and one-word answer.The final round comprised of MCQ, one word and a visual round. On 8th February, the AIL Centre for Research in Constitutional Law and Policy conducted the "Just A Minute" Competition on the theme "Know your Fundamental Rights". A total of 16 students participated in the Competition. Each participant was given one minute to speak on the topic. All topics were from Part III of the Constitution of India and the students got their respective topics through draw of lots. The results of the Competition are: First Prize- Sakshi Bhambhu (2376), who won a cash prize of Rs. 1500/- and a certificate of merit. Second Prize - Tanvi Bansal (2387), who won a cash prize of Rs. 1000/- and a certificate of merit. Third Prize - Ridhima Sharma (2397), who won a cash prize of Rs. 500/- and a certificate of merit.
The 75th Republic Day was celebrated at the Army Institute of Law, Mohali on 26th January, 2024. All the members of the faculty and the administrative staff were present for the celebrations. Dr Tejinder Kaur, Principal, AIL Col SP Singh (Retd), Registrar, AIL and Institute Prefects (Boy & Girl) hoisted the Indian National Flag at 9:30 AM. This was followed by address by the principal highlighting the immense significance of celebrating Republic Day. Students presented patriotic speech, poems and a cultural programme on the occasion. The event concluded with high tea for everyone.
The Centre for Research in Corporate Law And Governance (CRCLG) conducted an intra-institute competition titled 'Ignite: Pitching the Perfect Startup' wherein the students exhibited their creativeentrepreneurial skills through visionarytech-based start-up ideas. A total of 4 teams participated the event, who presented their unique product or service ideas before the judges in the form of 8-10 minutes pitch. The teams were judged and faced questionsbased on thefeasibility of their start-up, itsmarket potential and societal impact and the participant's presentation skills. Team comprising of Anushka Verma (2254), Bhoomi Pharswan (2249), Harshita (2214), Pratiksha Mishra (2224) and Srishti Singh (2201) were declared as winners, awarded a cash prize of Rs. 1500/-. Overall, the competition was designed to foster creativity and critical thinking among the students andstrove to make an attempt to inculcate an entrepreneurial skill among students.
The FDP designed to provide opportunities to teachers and research scholars to enhance their
teaching skills in the online mode, meeting the demands of the current times.
The programme
was attended by 35 participants from the institute and various other institutes. The two-day
program had two technical sessions each day via Google Meet. All sessions were very
informative. In the end of each session participants shared their standpoints regarding the
matters discussed in the technical sessions. Participants must have benefited from the FDP
and they were enlightened with ideas shared by the eminent speakers.
The annual alumni meet was conducted on 2 nd December 2023 at DSOI, sector 36, Chandigarh. A total of 37 Alumni attended the meet. The meet was graced by the Maj Gen Ivor Goldsmith, SM, MG AOC HQ Western Command & Chairman AIL along with Brig Chopra, OIC, AIL. The Placement cell students interacted with the alumni. Alumni shared their experiences with the students. Overall, the event was a success.
The 9th Convocation was organised by the institute on 2nd December 2023 for B.A. LL.Bbatches of 2017-22 and 2018-23 and LL.M batches of 2019-20, 2020-2021 & 2021-2022. His Excellency ShBanwarilal Purohit, Governor Punjab & Administrator Chandigarh (U.T.) was the Chief Guest. Prof (Dr) Arvind, Vice Chancellor, Punjabi University, Patiala and Lt Gen MK Katiyar, AVSM, GOC-in-C Western Command & Patron-in-Chief AIL were the Guests of Honour. Principal AIL welcomed the Esteemed Guests and Dignitaries.
The convocation address was delivered by Maj Gen Ivor Goldsmith, SM, MG AOC HQ Western Command & Chairman AIL. The Hon'ble Governor Punjab awarded 86 Degrees to the students. Lt Gen MK Katiyar, AVSM, GOC-in-C Western Command & Patron-in-Chief AIL, felicitated the toppers of BA LLB and Prof (Dr) Arvind, Vice Chancellor, Punjabi University, Patiala felicitated the toppers of LLM Batches. At the end, Principal declared the convocation ceremony 'closed'. The event was widely covered by print media.

Army Institute of Law has a well-structured rain water harvesting system and the water collected due to rain, whether on the roof of the buildings or on the ground, is harvested and goes into Pit for this purpose and increases the ground water table. There is an existing rain water harvesting pit and 2 more such pits are proposed to be constructed near G+3 Hostel in 2024.
The 13th edition of Checkmate 2023 AIL National Moot Court Competition was organised from 17th-18th November, 2023. The Preliminary Round involved a rigorous memorial selection process, with 31 teams from across the
country submitting memorials, out of which the top 16 teams made it to the physical Octa-Final round which was conducted on 17th November, 2023. It was followed by the eight highest scorers reaching the Quarter-Finals
which was conducted on the same day.
The Semi-Final rounds were conductedon 18th Nov which witnessed esteemed judges from the legal fraternity declaring the top two teams, who battled in the court room for the coveted title of the ‘Winners’ of
Checkmate 2023 AIL National Moot Court Competition.

A 'Jury Trial' was conducted as a part of Moot Court Society activity. The students were informed about the historical backdrop of jury trial and about the real last jury trial in India after K.M Nanavati v. State of Maharashtra.
The jury consisted of Lt. Col. Aditi Sharma, Dr. Amita Sharma, Dr. Sheetal Kapoor, Mr. Manmohit, Mr. Devinder Singh, Mrs. Jagjeet Kaur and Sub. Rajinder Singh. Aviansh Rathore (2252) appeared before the jury as the counsel for the plaintiff, Rahul which was portrayed by Kartikey (2317). While Ibadat Kaur Sarao (2285) argued from the side of the Defendant. Anjali was played by Simran.
After hearing both the sides and keeping into consideration all the evidences, the jury allowedAnjali to continue to keep the custody of her child. The Jury was presided over by Principal, Dr.Tejinder Kaur who announced the verdict of the jury and reserved the decision.A token of appreciation was also presented by Principal, Dr. Tejinder Kaur to all the participants.
National Legal Services Day is observed every year on 9 th November to commemorate the commencement of Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987. AIL Legal Aid Cell celebrated the National Legal Services Day on 9 th November, 2023 at the Multi-purpose Hall at the Institute. The important role of National, State and District Legal Services Authorities was discussed at length. Issues pertaining to (a) pension to the elderly citizens, (b) eradicating superstitions and witchcraft, (c) abolishing child marriage and (d) rehabilitation for victims were discussed with the aid of various short films/documentaries prepared by NALSA on the said themes.
AIL Debating Society organized a Panel Discussion: Discourse 2023 on 26th October, 2023. The topic of the panel discussion was “Analysis of Supriyo @ Supriya Chakraborty &Anr. v. Union of India, Writ Petition (Civil) No. 1011 of 2022.” Four teams comprising two students each, registered for the Competition. The competition witnessed a riveting discussion on issues pertaining to the legality of same-sex marriages.
The team comprising Anushka Verma (2254) and Atmika Vasvi(2258) were declared the “Best Team” of the Competition, and were awarded a Cash Prize of Rs. 1000/- and Certificates.
Legal Aid Cell of the Army Institute of Law, had the honour of hosting Sh. Baljinder Singh, Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM)-cum-Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, Mohali (DSLA), for a lecture on "Legal Services and Victim Compensation."His comprehensive discussion focused on two key schemes—the Punjab Victim Compensation Scheme and the Compensation schemes administered by the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA). He graciously visited the College's Legal Aid Cell, setting the stage for an enriching discourse.
The lecturer not only addressed legal intricacies but also fostered a deeper appreciation for the role of legal aid in promoting justice and alleviating the plight of victims.His insights served as a powerful reminder to all law students about the transformative impact they can have by actively participating in the dissemination of legal awareness.
Visit to Paraplegic Rehabilitation Center, Mohali- 19th October, 2023
48 AIL students and 2 faculty members embarked on a heartwarming journey to the
Paraplegic Rehabilitation Center, Mohali, a haven for armed forces personnel who've
sustained life-altering spinal cord injuries. The visit allowed students to engage with these
brave individuals and witness their indomitable spirit. In the candid interactions with the
veterans, students heard tales of sacrifice and learned about the precise moments that
transformed their lives. The veterans' stories resonated deeply with the students, instilling
respect for their dedication and sacrifices.
A tour of the Center's workshop unveiled a different aspect of the veterans' lives. They were
observed crafting various products as part of their vocational rehabilitation. The students
marvelled at the veterans' skills, witnessing their determination to rebuild their lives.
A striking revelation was the veterans' entrepreneurial spirit. Many had been encouraged to
start small businesses selling their crafted products, turning adversity into opportunities for
self-sustainability. This visit left an indelible mark on the students, highlighting the
importance of resilience and adaptability in the face of life's challenges. It serves as a
powerful reminder of the human spirit's capacity to triumph over adversity and inspired the
students to carry these lessons forward in their own lives.
The Army Institute of Law Centre for Gender Justice (ACGJ) organised and successfully conducted a Skit Competition on the topic 'Institution of marriage is losing its stability in the society' on Thursday, 12 October 2023. The team of first year students (Simran Jot Kaur Brar, Lohith Saajan, Harshdeep Kaur, Raghav Sharma, Adarsh Sankhyan, Kashish, Ambika Rana, Ansh Gupta) was adjudged as the winners. They showed how miscommunication becomes the reason behind an unstable marriage. Their skit was an amalgamation of good humour and social message. They were awarded a cash price of 2000 Rs. The participants took part with great enthusiasm and efforts. In all, the event was a great success.

District Legal Services Authority, SAS Nagar Mohali organised a walkathon on 30/09/23 to launch a month - long campaign, - "Punjab Against Drug Addiction" under the aegis of State Legal Services Authority. Thirty-three students of Army Institute of Law, Mohali participated in the walkathon along with officers of Punjab Police and Education Department – all of whom walked from the office of DLSA, Mohali to Rehabilitation Centre in sector 66. At the rehabilitation centre the gathering was addressed by Mr. Manjinder Singh, District & Sessions Judge-cum-Member Secretary, Punjab State Legal Services Authority, Mr. Baljinder Singh, CJM-cum-Secretary DLSA and vote of thanks was delivered by Mr. Harpal Singh, District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman DLSA.
The 12th edition of National Seminar, 2023 on the theme “Prospects of Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence: Issues and Challenges” was organised on 16th September, 2023. A Panel discussion was conducted from 10:00 -11:30 AM, where Dr Tejinder Kaur, Principal AIL, Mohali, initiated the dialogue on the topic. Dr. K. P. Singh DGP Haryana (Retd) discussed the numerous Artificial Intelligence’s Impending Issues and Lurking Challenges, Shri Gurcharan Singh, Faculty Member, Central Detective Training Institute, Bureau of Police Research & Development, Ministry of Home Affairs, Chd enlightened the audience on the Challenges of Artificial Intelligence for Legal Enforcement Agency and Judiciary. Mr. Sameer Sachdev, Adv. Punjab & Haryana High Court has thrown light upon AI and New Opportunities for Young Lawyers. The students asked questions from the Panel. Four Technical Sessions were conducted simultaneously from 12:00-1:15 PM. Dr. Shashi Shekhar Jha, Assistant Professor IIT Ropar, Prof. Ajay Mittal, UIET Panjab University Chd, Prof. Mukesh Kumar, UIET Panjab University Chd and Dr. Tejinder Kaur, Principal AIL, Mohali were the revered Chairpersons of the Technical Sessions.A total of 40 research papers were presented by delegates from the reputed institutes.

The final round of the AIL Intra-Institute Debate Championship 2023 was organized on 12-09-2023. The final round was preceded by a highly competitive and enthralling preliminary round. A total of 12 teams competed against each other on 8th September, 2023 in the preliminary round, out of which 6 teams qualified for the final round.
The motion for the finals of the Championship was “Digital Platforms act as Corridors between Consumers and Businesses.” The participants could either speak in Hindi or English. The final round was judged by Dr. Harpreet Gill, Associate Professor of English, MCM DAV College for Women, and Ms. Avnoor Makhu, Assistant Professor of English, MCM DAV College for Women. Principal, AIL graced the occasion and awarded the prizes to the winners and runners up and also felicitated the esteemed Judges.

A blood donation camp was organized in the institute by AIL Centre for Research in Social Sciences (ACRSS) in collaboration with the Rotary & Blood Bank Society Resource Centre, Sector-37, Chandigarh on 14th September'2023.It was inaugurated by Dr. Tejinder Kaur, Principal,AIL. The camp saw a very good response whereby 58 students successfully donated their blood. The donors were given refreshments.The blood bank issued certificates and gifted cloth bags to the donors.
The first edition of the Mediation Competition was organized on August 24, 2023 by
Alternative Dispute Resolution Society. With four negotiating pairs and four dedicated
mediators participating, the competition showcased the exceptional talents of our students in
the realm of alternative dispute resolution. The competition unfolded in two sessions,during
which the participants exhibited an impressive level of professionalism and commitment.
Under the discerning judgment of esteemed panellists, including, Dr. Bajirao Rajwade, Dr. Puja
Jaiswal and Dr. Alamdeep Kaur, the competition's best negotiator and mediator were identified.

Novices Moot Court Competition is an annual event in which students of B.A.LL.B. 1st year are introduced to the activity of mooting. Novices Moot Court Competition, 2023 was held from 28 th to 31 st August,2023. A total of 33 teams (consisting of 03 students) participated in the competition. The Researcher Test was conducted on 28th August,2023. The Preliminary Rounds were held on 29th August, 2023, followed by the Quarter final rounds and Semi-final rounds on 30th August, 2023. The Final round were held on Aug 31 st , 2023 and was judged by advocates from Punjab and Haryana High Court- Mr Paul S Saini and Mr Amar Vivek and Dr. Vibhuti Jaswal, Asstt Prof of Law.

visited Army Institute of Law, Mohali on 16 Aug 2023. The General Officer was briefed by the
Principal. He addressed the students of all batches in the MP Hall. Thereafter, he was taken
on round of the campus.
The General Officer was accompanied by Maj Gen Ivor Goldsmith, SM, MG AOC & Chairman
AIL, Brig TK Chopra, OIC AIL and SO to COS. A cup of tea was organized with the faculty.
The Independence Day was celebrated in the Institute with fervor and joy. Dr Tejinder Kaur,
Principal, AIL hoisted the National Flag. She inspired the students with A motivational speech
and exhorted them to cherish the ideals of freedom. The students presented a cultural
programme showcasing the rich diversity of Indian culture.
The occasion was also marked by a tree plantation ceremony followed a cup of tea for the
students and staff.
Army Institute of Law, Mohali conducted a demo moot on 17th of August, 2023 to introduce the 1st year students to the concept of moot court. The motive behind organising the demo moot is to guide the first-year students regarding the dynamics of the court room and interaction between the bar and the bench and also to get them ready for their novice moot court competition.
Two students of the 5th year – Nandini and Samyukta, volunteered to argue the case as complainant and respondent before Dr. Bajirao Rajwade and Dr. Anmolpreet Kaur, who were our judges for the event. 1st to 3rd year students were captivated as they listened to the respective counsels argue a case that was based on medical negligence before the District Consumer Forum.
An Extempore competition was held on 3rd August'2023 in the MPhall which saw a huge response by the participants. A total of 23 students spoke their mind on the topics given to them. The event was judged by three members of the faculty. PrathamKadiyan(2253),Alankrita(2305) and Dil(2243) were given the first, second and third prize respectively by Principal, Dr. Tejinder Kaur.
Orientation Programme for the Batch 2023-2028 was successfully organized and conducted from 25th July to31st July 2023. The Programme commenced with the welcome address by Principal, Dr. Tejinder Kaur who motivated the students with her words of wisdom.
The programme apprised the students about the curriculum at AIL and the functioning of academics, mooting skills, functioning of Centresestablished by AIL and the importance of research in the legal profession. The students were enlightened by a series of lectures by veteran academicians including Prof NishthaJaswal, VC, HPNLU, Prof Deepti Gupta, Former Chairperson, Deptt of English, PU, MrsBikramjitMangat, Eng Lecturer and NLP trainer, MrSimarOmkar, Director, Great Life -Applied Psychology Services, Chandigarh and MrAnil Malhotra,SrAdv, Pb&Hry High Court, Chandigarh.
The entire programme was interspersed with fun filled activities including Ice Breaking Session, Talent Hunt and Role Play in different walks of life to boost the morale and confidence of the students.
Army Institute of Law, Mohali celebrated 9th International Day of Yoga on 21 Jun 2023. All the faculty and employees participated in the event. The Yoga class was conducted by the Yoga Teachers from the Patanjali Yoga Committee. The event was successfully conducted. Annual Day-2023 was celebrated at Army Institute of Law, Mohali, on 17th May, 2023. The celebrations commenced with a welcome address and reading of annual report by Dr Tejinder Kaur, Principal, AIL. The Chief Guestfor the occasion was Lt Gen Nav K Khanduri, PVSM, AVSM, VSM, GOC-in-C Western Command and Patron-in-Chief AIL, Maj Gen Ivor Goldsmith, SM, MG AOC Western Command and Chairman AIL was the Guest of Honor and Mrs Vijaya Khanduri, President Regional AWWA, Western Command was the Esteemed Guest on the occasion. The students who topped in academics as well as who brought laurels by participating in various Inter and Intra-Institute competitions like moots, debates, sports and cultural activities were felicitated with trophies, cash awards and various prizes worth Rs. 7,02,200/-. Jyoti Pandey from the 5th year bagged Army Commander Best Student Trophy for being the all-round topper in academics, moots, sports, cultural and debates. The celebration included cultural performances by the students and concluded with a Vote of Thanks and presentation of mementoes to the esteemed guests by Dr Tejinder Kaur, Principal, AIL. The event was a grand success.
Centre For Research In Corporate Law And Governance (CRCLG) organized Intra-Institute AD-MAD. Show Competition on 4th May 2023 in the MP Hall. The competition was an "Advertising Campaign Competition' where students showcased their creative skills in marketing products and services.
A total of 7 teams participated in the competition. Team comprising of Anjali Rahul Verma (2225), Gia Gupta (2229), Adhya (2236), Chirag Negi (2248) and Ishanjeet Ghosh (2206) were declared as winners winning a cash prize of Rs. 1000/- and Runners Ups team comprising of Pratiksha (2226), Radha (2213), Khushi Kaushik(2232), Shiv Pujan Yadav(2260) and Dil (2243) won a cash prize of Rs 700/-.
AIL Centre for Research in Constitutional Law and Policy organized an interactive session betweenProfessor Emeritus (Dr) Balram K Gupta (Sr. Advocate) and Maj Gen Raj Mehta (Retd) on 11th April, 2023.The interaction centered around the book authoredby Professor Balram K Gupta, titled "My Journey with Law and Justice".
ProfessorBalram K Gupta is Professor Emeritus, Designated Senior Advocate, former Director,National Judicial Academy, India and Director (Academics), Chandigarh Judicial Academy.Maj Gen Raj Mehta (Retd)retired after 39 years of service in the Army, spending seven tenures in the war zone in Kashmir, a motivational speaker while still in uniform, he was Director of a group of schools for several years.Maj Gen Raj Mehta (Retd) put forth various questions before Prof Gupta about his life experiences.
The interaction was a fruitful learning experience for one and all present. Principal, Registrar, esteemed guests, faculty members and students were in attendance to witness this interaction. The session was followed by question and answer round. The session concluded with felicitation of Professor Dr. Balram K Gupta and Maj Gen Raj Mehta (retd) by Principal Dr. Tejinder Kaur.

The competition was conducted online in which 42 teams from various Law Colleges and National Law Universities from across the nation participated. 16 teams qualified for the oral rounds conducted on 30th Mar 2023. The participating students were given topics on the spot to speak for a maximum of 3 minutes. This activity was a great experience as the contestants exhibited their presence of mind & promptness in changing their sides when asked by the judges. AIL Centre for Research in Social Sciences(ACRSS) celebrated Women's daywith full zeal and fervour in the Multipurpose Hall. The event was opened by rendition of poetry by Tanvi Mishra (2011)followed by Aviansh Rathore(2252) and Aman Singh (2144).
The latterpart of the event was an ode to the vulnerable groups of the society. First, a documentary on the regretful condition of the abandoned elderly in India was showcased followed by the screening of another on the plight of lower castes in India. This was followed byNukkad Natak Competition. Three teams participated in the event on the issue of the Kashmiri Pandits,plight of Sex workers in India and Intersectional feminism respectively.
Team comprising of Anjali Verma(2225), Pratham Kadian(2253), Radha(2213), Dil(2243), Gia Gupta(2229), Kashish Singh(2269) and Kartikey Bishnoi(2205) were declared as the winners of the competition.They were presented with a prize amount of ₹1000.
In the end, Principal ma'am gave some valuable insights on the event and lauded the performances.
Overall, the event was a great success and was enjoyed by the students and the faculty alike.
AIL Cultural Committee organised a Talent show on 2nd March'2023 in the MP Hall. The students showcased a variety of cultural performances like Dance, singing, instrumental Music, poetry recitation and one act play. A total of 25 students participated in this event. Aryaman (1925) of the 4th year was giventhe judges' choice award.
Maj Gen RK Raina, SM, Ph.D (Retd), Managing Director, Army Welfare Education Society (AWES), Delhi visited the institute on 3rd Mar 2023. He was accompanied by Col Pritpal Chandel (Retd), Director (Projects), HQ AWES, Delhi and Col RS Bhatti (Retd), Dir AWES Cell, Western Command. He was received by Dr Tejinder Kaur, Principal AIL and Col SP Singh (Retd), Registrar AIL. Col Hardev Singh, SO (AIL) was also present. The MD AWES was briefed by the Principal on academic and administrative state of the Institute. Thereafter, he was taken on round of the campus and 1.44 acre land.

The Gen officer was accompanied by Maj Gen Ivor Goldsmith, SM, MG AOC HQ Western Command & Chairman, AIL, Brig TK Chopra, OIC (AIL & PRC), Col RS Bhatti (Retd), Dir AWES Cell, Western Command and SO to COS, HQ Western Command.
Dr Tejinder Kaur, Principal and Col SP Singh (Retd), Registrar welcomed the General Officers. The COS laid down the Foundation Stone of Additional Hostel. Faculty, staff, student representatives and Mr. Amarjit Singh, contractor of G+3 project were present during the occasion. COS congratulated every one present that work on the project has started. He urged the contractor to ensure quality of construction. Sweets were distributed on the occasion to the entire college students and staff.
Army Institute of Law, Mohali organized an event on 21st February, 2023, wherein students and faculty members of Government School,Kumbravisited the campus. The students of the school were oriented about the viability of law as a subject as well as a career option.
The members of the Legal Aid cell and the Placement cell of the institute interacted with the students and satisfied their queries. The members also accompanied them to have a round of the campus. The students were highly impressed to visit the campus. The Institute had also arranged refreshments for the students and faculty members of the school. The students and faculty members of the school left the campus satisfied and happy.
The Legal Aid Cell, AIL organized a lecture by Prof. (Dr.) Virendra Kumar, Professor Emeritus in Law, Founding Director (Academics) Chandigarh Judicial Academy and Former Chairman, Dept. of Laws, Panjab University, Chandigarh on 23rd February, 2023. The Lecture was delivered on the topic "Reservation for EWS via basic structure doctrine under the 103rd amendment of the Constitution: A Juridical Critique". An erudite speaker Professor Kumar enlightened the young minds of AIL towards deeper and indispensable understanding of Basic Structure Doctrine by citing relevant Supreme Court decisions. He also shared his real-life experiences and challenges which he came across while completing his research. After the lecture, he also addressed the questions of students and teachers. The session concluded with felicitation of Professor Virendra Kumar by the worthy Principal Dr. Tejinder Kaur.
AIL Intra Institute Quiz Competition was held on 17th February, 2023. The preliminary round, which was a multiple-choice written test was held on 14th February, 2023. 37 students participated in the preliminary round, out of whom 16 students were selected for the semi-final rounds. These students were divided into 8 teams through a draw of lots conducted on 15th February, 2023.Four teams, namely Teams Red, Green, Blue and Yellow battled it out in Semi-final I. Teams Green and Yellow qualified for the Final after Semi-final I. Teams Orange, Black, White and Brown were part of Semi-final II. Teams Black and Brown qualified for the Finalafter Semi-final II. The Semi-Finals and Finals comprised of 4 rounds each, 2 multiple-choice question rounds, a one-word answer round and a visual round, covering subjects like Law, History, Mythology, Sports, Culture, Current Affairs, Films, etc. Teams Green, Black, Yellow and Brown put up their best performance in the final round. AIL Eco Club organised its first activity in the Multi-Purpose Hall, which was a poster making competition on the theme of "Go Green to Breathe Clean" on 9th February, 2023 in which students participated to spread awareness, regarding the significance of inculcating green habits in one's life to live in a healthy environment and a better future, through beautiful and meaningful posters.
The 74th Republic Day was celebrated at the Army Institute of Law, Mohali on 26th January, 2023. All the members of the faculty and the administrative staff were present for the celebrations. This was followed by an inspirational speech by Dr Tejinder Kaur highlighting the immense significance of celebrating Republic Day.
She also encouraged everyone to live up to the spirit of the day and inculcate the values associated with it. In view of National Voters Day on 25 Jan 2023, AIL staff and students took pledge on the occasion to uphold the democratic traditions of our country and the dignity of free, fair and peaceful elections, and to vote in every election fearlessly and without being influenced by considerations of religion, race, caste, community, language or any inducement. The event concluded with high tea for everyone.
The 12th edition of Checkmate 2022 AIL National Moot Court Competition was successfully organised at AIL Mohali. The Preliminary Round of the competition was conducted through the memorial selection submitted by 34 teams from across the country. Top 12 teams selected from the memorial round participated in the physical rounds that were held on 25–27 November, 2022. The final round was adjudged by the esteemed panel comprising of Hon'ble Mr. Justice Vikas Bahl, Judge Punjab and Haryana High Court; Prof. Balram K Gupta, Former Director (Academics) Chandigarh Judicial Academy, and Mr. Anil Malhotra, Advocate, Punjab and Haryana High Court.

th November 2022.
The meet
was conducted in DSOI, Panchkula and was attended by alumni from different
batches of the institute. The meet was attended by the Chairman, AIL and Staff
Officer. All efforts were made to make it a night full of reminiscing beautiful
memories of the bygone days. At the end of the event, a memorabilia was given to all
the alumni, as a token of appreciation for their presence and participation. We hope to
host a better and bigger alumni meet in 2023 with the same zeal and enthusiasm!
Novices Moot Court Competition is an annual event in which students who join the course of B.A.LL.B. are introduced to the activity of mooting. A total of 47 teams participated in the competition. The competition was held from 28th September to 4th October 2022 involving 5 rounds ie Preliminary Rounds, Quarter Final, Semi Final and Final Rounds. The Final round of the competition was held on 4th October 2022 which was judged by advocates from Punjab and Haryana High Court- Mr Sameer Sachdev, Mr Karan Bhardwaj and Mr Adhiraj Bhandari.

Maj Gen Vikram Taneja, MG AOC & Chairman, AIL was given a warm send-off on 03 Oct 2022. The Gen Offr was accompanied by Brig Devinder Singh, OIC, AIL & PRC and Col Hardev Singh, SO to Chairman. An interactive tea was organized with the Faculty and Staff. Chairman was presented a Memento and Memorabilia by the Principal.
National Seminar was held on 24th September, 2022 at Army Institute of Law, Mohali. The theme of the Seminar was, "Environmental Challenges in the 21st Century: Emerging Legal Framework". It was held in virtual mode. The Inaugural Session was held from 10 am to 10.45 am. Dr. Tejinder Kaur, Principal AIL, delivered the inaugural address. Prof. (Dr.) Bharti, Professor of Law from National Law University, Delhi was the Keynote Speaker.Five Technical Sessions were held from 11.30 am to 1 pm. Prof. Rattan Singh, Prof. Devinder Singh and Prof. Shruti Bedi from Panjab University, Chandigarh and Prof. Monica Chawla and Prof. Varinder Kaushik from Punjabi University, Patiala were the Chairpersons of the Technical Sessions. A total of 49 research papers were presented in these sessions. The sessions were very edifying and enriching culminating into the successful organisation of the event.
Intra- Institute Debate Competition was organised on 16 September, 2022 at the MPH. The debating Society organises this event annually with the aim to refine the public speaking skills of the students. The Preliminary Round of the competition was conducted on September 14th, 2022 on the topic- "Remission of Sentence: A Travesty of Justice?". Out of the 16 teams, who registered on the first come first serve basis, 8 teams made it to the Final rounds of the competition. On 16th September, 2022, top 8 teams battled for the coveted title of the 'Winner' and the splendid Trophy. The speakers spoke eloquently on the topic- "Should OTT Streaming Be Censored in India?" The final round was judged by Prof. (Dr.) Chanchal Narang, Prof of English at UILS Panjab University, Chandigarh, Dr. Jasmine Anand, Assistant Professor in English from Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women Chandigarh and Mrs. Sunita Kumari, Assistant Professor in Hindi at Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College.

Demo Moot for the first year B.A.LL.B students was conducted on 9th September, 2022 in Army Institute of Law, Mohali at 2:30 PM in the Multipurpose Hall. This was planned for the 1st year batch to show them the skills of Advocacy.
The proposition was based on the act of negligence. Ms. Ananya Sharma, Advocate and an alumnus of Army Institute of Law and Ms. Kanishka Chopra, B.A. LL.B. 3rd year student argued the case. AIL Annual Day-2022 was celebrated at Army Institute of Law, Mohali, on 20th May, 2022 with great fervor after two years of pandemic. Prof Arvind, Vice Chancellor, Punjabi University, Patiala was the Chief Guest for the occasion and Prof Gurpreet Singh Lehal, Dean, College Development Council, Punjabi University, Patiala was the Guest of Honour. The event commenced with a welcome address and presentation of Annual Report by the Principal, AIL. She highlighted the achievements of AILians in different fields. The students who topped in academics as well as who brought laurels by participating in various Inter and Intra-Institute competitions like moots, debates, sports and cultural activities were felicitated with trophies and cash awards including various scholarships like SBI Sponsored Scholarship, Alumni Scholarships, Tata Merit Scholarships etc. Cash prizes worth Rs 3,98,200/- for various inter-institute and intra-institute activities were distributed amongst the students. Aakriti Gupta was declared 'Student of the Year'. The celebration included cultural performances by the students and concluded with a Vote of Thanks and presentation of mementoes to the esteemed guests by Maj Gen Vikram Taneja, MG AOC, Western Command and Chairman, AIL. The AIL Annual Intra Institute Moot Court Competition, 2022 was organised from 26th to 28th of April, 2022. The final round was judged by Advocate Tanu Bedi, Advocate Sahil Abhiand AdvocateAditya Dassaura, all practising lawyers from P and H High Court.

AIL Intra Institute Quiz Championship was successfully held on 21st April, 2022. The preliminary rounds, comprising of a written test were held on 20th April. 12 top scoring students made it to the Semi- Finals held in the afternoon session on Thursday. These students were divided into 4 teams RED, GREEN, BLUE and ORANGE through a draw of lots. The Teams were asked questions by Quiz Masters Dr Bajirao Rajwade and Dr Sheetal Kapoor. The questions ranged from MCQs, One word answers, Image Identification to Audio- Visual rounds covering a plethora of subjects like Law, History, Mythology, Sports, Culture, Current Affairs, Films etc. Team RED and Team BLUE made it to the finals. Army Institute of Law celebrated the Matribhasha Diwas on 21st February, 2022. The day was commemorated with a Singing activity held online where students sang songs in their mother tongue. The event was aimed at promoting mother tongue and to appreciate the linguistic diversity in India.
While Himanshi Kaushik from the First year reminded us of Gurdas Mann with the soulful rendition of 'Challa', Gaurang Takkar from the first year paid a tribute to the Nightingale of India Lata Mangeshkar by singing the mellifluous 'Tere Liye' from Veer Zara and Sai Keerti from the second year enthralled the audience with 'Teri Mitti' echoing the patriotic feelings of every Indian. The event culminated with a surprise announcement of award of a cash prize of Rs.500/- and a Certificate to each of the participants and the MC Harmanpreet Kaur from the second year, by Principal Dr Tejinder Kaur who also lauded the talent of AILians.

Centre for Research on Corporate Law and Governance (CRCLG), to be a part of "Azaadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav" celebration collaborated with the Office of Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trademarks and conducted an Awareness Programme on Intellectual Property Rights at AIL, Mohali on Jan. 11th, 2022.The said program was conducted in Online mode which was attended by the Registrar, AIL, students & faculty members (around 160 participants).
The Panel of speakers from the Office of Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trademarks, Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion GOI, were Mr. Rahul Dhakad&Mr. Raj Kumar Meena, Mr Devesh Kumar Lodhi, all three working as Examiner of Patents and Design; Mr. Abhishek Kumar Pandey, Senior Examiner of Trademarks and GI and Dr.Sunil Kumar, Examiner of TM & GI.The speakers enlightened the students on different types of intellectual property rights and the Indian legal system of IP protection. Every participantwasawarded with E-Certificate by the Office of Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trademarks.
A Five-days Management Development Program (MDP) on Cyber Law and E-Governance was conducted from 17th to 21st January, 2022 at Army Institute of Law, Mohali. The Inaugural address was delivered by Maj Gen Vikram Taneja, MG AOC, HQ Western Command. Resource persons for the programme were faculty members of the AIL, Mohali and four Army Officers from the HQ Western Command.
The said program was conducted in Online modewhere several important facets of Cyber Law And E-Governance were dealt with The sessions were interactive and participants deliberated in fruitful discussions.
The concluding address was given by Dr Tejinder Kaur, Principal, AIL Mohali. A total of nineteen Army Officers participated in the saidprogramme. The programme was coordinated by Dr Puja Jaiswal and Ms. Tanvir Dhaliwal. The MDP received positive feedback from the participating officers.
Army Institute of Law, Mohali conducted the Management Development Programme On Gender Equality and Constitutional Provisions for Women at Workplace from 13th Dec to 17th Dec 2021. The welcome address was delivered by Dr Tejinder Kaur, Principal AIL Mohali. The programme was attended by 18 women working in various positions at Western Command. The resource persons of the sessions were the faculty of AIL. It was successfully conducted and received a very positive feedback from the participants. 8th Convocation Graduation ceremony of three batches of BA LL.B and two batches of LL.M students was held on 20th November, 2021 at 1000h with a welcome address by Maj Gen Vikram Taneja, MG AOC, HQ Western Command & Chairman, AIL. Prof (Dr) Veer Singh, former Vice Chancellor, NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad and former Director, Chandigarh Judicial Academy was the Chief Guest of the event. The convocation ceremony was held in virtual mode due to the restrictions imposed by ongoing pandemic. 68 Students from BA LL.B and 07 students from LL.M joined the ceremony on Google meet. COAS Rolling trophy for Best Student of the Batch, CM's Award for standing 1st in the Batch and Awards of Excellence were awarded on the occasion. With an objective of a Tete a tete with our Alumni,AIL Alumni Meet-2021 was successfully organised at DSOI, Panchkula on 13th Nov'21 at 17:00 hrs. The meet was attended by 41 alumni from different batches since the inception of AIL. Some were accompanied by their Spouse and children. Having carved a niche in different fields like litigation, judicial services, corporate sector, defence forces etc, the attendee alumni made it a momentous occasion. Several dignitaries from the western command, members of the management and faculty also graced the occasion. A group photograph was clicked to cherish it later. The alumni were given memorabilia as a token to convey our thanks.

Army Institute of Law, Mohali organized One Day International Seminar on Dispute Resolution: Best Practices and Future Trends in association with Strauss Institute of Dispute Resolution Pepperdine University, Caruso Law School, California, USA. This seminar focused on multiple aspects of Dispute Resolution, which has taken a different turn with the introduction of ADR. The Virtual International Seminar commenced with the inaugural session where Dr Sukhsimranjit Singh, MD, Strauss Institute, delivered the Welcome Address. This was followed by panel discussions by Hon'ble Judge Daniel Weinstein, Hon'ble Judge Alexander Williams III, Mr. Peter Robinson, Ms. Stephanie Blondell, and Mr. Steve Rottman. The Vote of Thanks was proposed by Dr Tejinder Kaur, Principal, Army Institute of Law. In the second session of the seminar, four technical session were held on the theme in which 42 papers were presented by scholars, students and faculty from different Colleges and Universities. The event was a success.

Induction Programme for the New batch 2021-2026 was successfully organized and conducted from 4th October to 8th October, 2021. The Programme commenced with the welcome address by Principal, Dr. Tejinder Kaur who motivated the students with her words of wisdom. In the week long programme there were several lectures organized for the enlightenment and intellectual elevation of students. These were followed by fun and literary activities to make the students feel at home. A Five-days Management Development Program (MDP) on Cyber Law and Its Applications was conducted from 13 th September, 2021 to 17 th September, 2021. Eighteen Army Officers from across the country, participated in the Development Programme. Resource persons for the Programme were seven faculty members of the Army Institute of Law, Mohali and four Army Officers who had expertise in the subject.
The programme entailed towards enabling a fruitful learning process facilitated by lectures, discussions and interactive sessions. The lectures covered various facets of cyber law and its applications, including: cyber law and e-governance, cyber security audit, cyber-crimes and cyber frauds, investigation and prosecution of cyber-crimes, cyber threats and army's response to the challenges, cyber forensics, dark web, privacy concerns in the digital world, cyber-attacks and mitigation techniques, digital evidence, protecting children and young adults, etc.
Management Development Programme on 'Enabling Legal Framework Affecting
Procurement of Goods and Services' was held from 23 rd to 27 th August, 2021. Nineteen
Officers from different Commands of the Indian Army participated in the programme.
The
faculty of AIL and four officers from the Army were the resource persons who discussed
various aspects of the law of public procurement. The sessions were very fruitful and
interactive. The programme was appreciated by the participants. The event successfully
accomplished its learning objectives.

The General Officer was accompanied by Brig Devinder Singh Yadav, OIC, AIL, Col R S Bhatti (Retd), Dir AWES, Lt Col M S Rana, SO to Chairman, AIL and SO to COS.
This year the said competition was organised virtually from April 8th to 10th, 2021. Thirty seven teams from various National Law schools and prestigious Law colleges participated in the said competition. Vellore Institute of Technology School of Law, Chennai was adjudged as Winners and DES Shri Navalmal Firodia Law College, Pune as Runners Up of the competition. The Competition successfully organised.
Virtuoso- 2021, Online Intra Institute Quiz was organized by the Institute. The Preliminary Round was conducted on 17th March 2021via Google form where 21 students participated. Based on the scores of the Preliminary Round,8 students qualified for the Semi Final Round which was held online on 18th March 2021 via Google Meet. Out of these 8 students, top 2 scorers qualified for the Final Round which was also conducted via google meet on the same day.

AIL Centre for Research in Social Sciences (ACRSS) and Abhayam- AIL Centre for Gender Empowerment (ACGE)celebratedWomen's Day.
Asmita Mann, student of 5th Year welcomed the students and staff. Gunsimran from the 5th year spoke about UN theme for this women's day- "Women in Leadership", highlighting the significant roles being played by women in different walks of life. This was followed by poem recitation on women's role in society, beautifully rendered by Garima Dixit from the 5th Year.
The event ended with a short play by first year students who brilliantly and enthusiastically portrayed the dilemmas faced by women in their lives.
The celebrations culminated with everyone partaking of the delectable refreshments served on the special day.
Lt Gen Yogendra Dimri, AVSM, VSM, Chief-of-Staff, HQ Western Command and Patron, AIL visited Army Institute of Law, Mohali for carrying out Annual Adm and Technical Inspection-2021. The General Officer was briefed by the Principal. He reviewed the progress made by the College. The General Officer was accompanied by the Chairman, Army Institute of Law and Staff Officers.
Faculty Development Programme organised on 11th – 12th February, 2021 at AIL, Mohali on the theme "Teaching Pedagogy in Contemporary times: Effective Process and Tools". The FDP was designed to provide opportunities to teachers and research scholars to enhance their teaching skills in the online mode.
Tricity Alumni Meet organised on 5th Feb 2021 for sharing the spirit of camaraderie. The meet gave a platform to the alumnus to celebrate their nostalgic moments.
10th edition of Annual National Moot Court Competition- Checkmate organised on 30-31 st October, 2020. This year the competition was conducted via virtual mode.
